Pleated Air Filters
The most popular configuration of pleated filters is the panel style pleated air filter. They are used in thicknesses of 1", 2", 3", 4", 5" and 6". By far the most popular width is the 2" which is commonly used in commercial and industrial applications, and 1" width is the most popular residential thickness. Construction is typically a pleated media which is a cotton/synthetic fiber blend, or an all synthetic media sheet apr. 1/16" thick. This media is supported by a expanded metal or welded wire grid on the downflow side of the filter.
This style of filter has significant advantages over traditional non-pleated filters. Much higher efficiency of dust capture is possible with a pleated air filter. Pleated filters also typically last 60 to 90 days whereas non-pleated filters last only 30 days. Better filtration and longer life make pleated filters a great value when considering these facts.
